IGFA Captain Colin Barden, Captain’s Corner, May/June 2009

April 14, 2015 by Colin

Having retired from commercial fishing Colin decided to bring serious game fishing to the Eastern Mediterranean Island of Cyprus, his second home since 1978

Situated in the North East corner of the Mediterranean Cyprus is surrounded by a diverse range of fish – much of which pour through the Suez canal straight out of the Red sea. If you’re looking for Albacore, Blue fin, Dorado, Amberjack, Swordfish and several shark species then you’ll love Cyprus. The Island is no stranger to fishing however serious offshore game fishing has had little representation, until now.

In 2005 Colin designed a purpose built 45” long, 14” beam hi performance off shore sports fishing boat, “The Evening Star”. With a 650 bhp engine and full electronics package this thoroughbred vessel will have you fishing big game in untouched territory up to 60 miles offshore.

With no serious competitor even close Colin has already made his mark with local TV interests concerning some impressive catches. He is also organizing charters to break a few IGFA Line records in the Eastern Mediterranean this year and is currently in negotiation with a major international organization to begin a “tag and release” program.

If you find yourself in the region this summer then don’t miss a day trip on the “Evening Star”. To book call Colin on +357 96 670 299 or email via the website at www.charterfishingcyprus.com
